This is our attempt at a Formal Photo, of a Home Guard section, many photos were taken like this, throughout Britain during the war.

The Museum was taken over by allied troops and our group was invited to portray French Resistance Fighters for the weekend. So we spent 3 days living in an old thatched cottage and under a canvas shelter, cooking on a camp-fire and talking French (with a Welsh accent!!)

The Margam Muster was a change for us to do some training for ourselves, as opposed to putting on a show for the public. Training started at 0900hrs and continued to 2400hrs

Spent the weekend as Lovat Scouts, route marched into waste ground next to 1940 Swansea Bay Museum and Dug Several Trenches and constructed some shelters to sleep in. We also had a 'Parachute Drop' with food ration packs and good use was made of the chute to crate a shelter over our cooking and living area.
During the weekend we also were able to experience what an artillery strike on a defended position might of been like, using thunderflashes and other special effects !
Sentries were posted throughout the night and we successfully defended the access road.
As a Living History Group, this weekend was an invaluable insight into what it would have been like to live in and maintain fire positions, with the most basic of accommodation.
